John was at the park with Bruce and I had just sat down to write a new post. Maybe if I ignore it whichever one of Bruce's friends it is will realize he's not home and come later. Diiiiiiiiiing Donnnnnnnnnnnnnnng. Nope. I put down my computer and went downstairs to answer the ringing doorbell. To my pleasant surprise it was two little girls from our community. "Hello Auntie, may we sit on your swing?" A big smile came to my face as I said "of course, of course, but first tell me your names". I'm embarrassed to say that just one day later I cannot remember how to pronounce them. I'm getting old. I sat on the front porch chatting with them while they giggled and marveled at how "high and fast" the swing could go and not long after I could hear Bruce and John returning from the park. Bruce was running along in front of course and he immediately noticed that we had guests. "Hello ladies" was his charming greeting and he proceeded to help push them on the swing. He swung them a little too high and they laughed and screamed while Bruce laughed along with them. Anyway, the rain had just moved on and I had two precious little girls playing on our front yard swing. I started thinking how this is one of my favorite things about living in India. No scheduled play date, no checking the calendar and making sure my time fits with yours and all that jazz. Two little girls decided they wanted a go on our swing so they rang the doorbell and asked.

I've been reading alot more than usual lately. You guys know I love to read. Latest reads that I recommend are:
The Fault in Our Stars, Behind the Beautiful Forevers, Jeff in Venice, Death in Varanasi (sexual content warning), The Wool, (get the omnibus edition) and I am re-reading The Passage getting ready for book 2 which comes out in October. I am also about to start re-reading The Game of Thrones. Waited years and years it seems for The Dance of Dragons and when it finally came out and was purchased by yours truly I confess I cannot bring myself to read it. Can't figure out why. Also the Joe Abercrombie, The First Law series is good too. Sorry I'm all over the place today. Oh Shantaram is also a seriously good book, wish I would have read it before I came out here. Anything by Robert Crais is good in my opinion. A very disturbing book was We need to talk about Kevin. Don't think I'll want to see the movie (was supposed to be really good) but the book was enough, thank you very much. Little man what now? (loved this book, gives you a bit of an understanding of the harsh economic life in Germany before Hitler's rise to power) and The Kite Runner are also books that stand out in my mind as good reads. Remember folks, I like a lot of different genres so look up the books before you commit to a read, you may be thinking "love story" or chicklets and most of them are not. The Strain series. Really good and hard to put down as well. You find you have alot of time to read when you are being driver around Bangalore traffic. I know I'll miss all this "reading" time when I'm back in the states.
That's all for now peeps, but one question (RANDOM, I know). Who the heck cast Meg Ryan as Pamela in The Doors? Val Kimmer....could have been JM's twin, but Meg Ryan? So unbelievable in that role. Jeez.
I leave you with my favorite pic of Vincent's visit this summer.
Spiderman with his superhero!
