That was me this morning after we dropped Bruce off at school. I did not start off in the best spirits this morning. But once we dropped off Bruce I had my driver "turn it up" and we had the music blaring, the "california" song was playing and the music and the beat took over my mind and my body and I couldn't help swaying and singing while taking in the same sights that surround me every day. They took on a different feel this time, a different sheen was on everything. It was surreal, like I was in a movie..."a woman from Texas in a strange land", listening to music that doesn't and yet does agree with the scenery...not disgusted by the miles of trash in the street, not scared of the utter craziness of the traffic, not depressed over the shacks, tent cities, the children living in severe poverty, the scene shows all of this and yet pans back to her (me) and with all of this chaos around her instead of burying her head in a book, or deciding not to notice it today......she is singing and yes....even dancing, taking in the scenery and appreciating the chance to see something so vastly different than her normal life as she knows it in the US. And in this moment she realizes...she is embracing Bangalore. Better yet, she is "rocking" Bangalore.
Yeah things are nuts here...who knows what you're going to encounter day to day. My day can go from amazing to complete frustration and then back to amazing very quickly or not. Sometimes I believe I will make a difference, other days I don't know how that could be true. Motivation, frustration, elation, depression, you feel everything here. Bangalore is a complete and intense assault on your senses. But bottom line for me is life here is interesting and I am more interesting for it. I was rocking Bangalore this morning, yeah....a housewife wearing rock star sunglasses in the back of a mini van dancing to 2pac and Dr Dre...it should be a movie.
Since I can't figure out how to add music to my slide show.....I will leave you with a slide show of the morning scenes I was experiences while I was rocking out to my music. Enjoy.
